The history of North Carolina has lessons for the entire country. Rich in natural resources, the state’s plains, piedmont, and mountains attracted habitation over many centuries. This new exhibit chronicles human existence in this region from the ancient peoples to the influx of the Scotts/Irish and other Europeans to present day. Agriculture, industry, slavery, war, and politics are among the topics covered in exhibits rich with artifacts and media.

proun was contracted by CCA to develop the graphics for the exhibits. The exhibits blend iconic elements such as a log cabin, farm and industrial equipment, and military artifacts with scenic recreations and period graphics. Interactive exhibits provide hands-on interpretation throughout the experience. Elegantly understated graphics infuse content in a consistent format while carefully coordinated color palettes signal change in content and tone from one chapter to the next.
